My Favorite Spiritual Resources/Books

Summer is here, but that doesn’t mean that we put learning to the side! I’ve been saying I was going to compile this list of books that I’ve used over the years and have recommended to a number of clients and friends over the years. Well…here it finally is! Honestly, if I had my own required reading or “Summer Reading List” this would be the list.

Check out these books and why they were so impactful for me:

Ask your Guides: Calling in Your Divine Support System for Help with Everything in Life by Sonia Choquette

  • If you are new to the magic of spirituality, the universe, and are wanting to expand your spirituality and spiritual team beyond, or just not sure who your guides are, who you want to work with, or who is on your spiritual team, then this is the book for you. I recommend this book both to people new to this work or those who have been walking their spiritual journey but are ready to take a deeper step.
  • This is a great introduction to some of the ArchAngels and beyond. This really helped me start working with my spiritual team, (I interact with a lot of them on a daily basis!)
  • Grab your copy infused with Reiki goodness at my online shop website or after your next healing session in person.

Sacred Contracts by Caroline Myss

  • If you want to understand our sacred contracts that we have with individuals that may last days, weeks, months, or years then this is the book for you.
  • We all have sacred contracts – these contracts with others (I’d even include spaces, homes, and places, etc.) that help our soul on its spiritual journey, evolution, and growth. This book also introduces the concept of everyone having 12 different archetypes, however, we all have 4 of the same ones – The Child, The Victim, The Prostitute, and The Saboteur and how our sacred contracts with others activate these archetypes at times. If you are grappling with why things happen and how to move forward, then this is a great must read. I can’t tell you the amount of people I have recommended this book to.
  • Honestly, every book I’ve read from Caroline Myss has been very impactful for me.

The Mastery of the Love:  A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship: A Toltec Wisdom Book by Don Miguel Ruiz

  • I actually prefer this book to The Four Agreements written by Ruiz. We all need love that is no question. Love is also a complicated emotion, something we all deserve but may be grappling with not only our relationship to love, self-love, but also to others.
  • In this book, Don Miguel Ruiz states in more words than these that in order to be in relationship (a loving relationship) with others, we must first learn how to be in a loving relationship with ourselves. I couldn’t agree more – or at least that has been my own experience.
  • So, if you are looking for more love and how you can love yourself on a deeper level, then pick up this quick read. There are also a few well-loved copies for purchase through my shop.

The Gift of Fear: Survival Signals That Protect Us from Violence by Gavin de Becker

  • I don’t think there is a single person that should not be reading this book. In my honest opinion, I think this should be required reading in high school – maybe so young as junior high (you get my point here.)
  • I’m intuitive – I say it all the time (do I always listen to those “intuitive messages” as I call them? No – I am only human after all.) We are all intuitive, if you are questioning this comment then, I say to you that the difference between you and me is that I am constantly exercising my intuitive muscle where you may not do that on a regular or daily basis.
  • Here de Becker reminds us that those little “gut feelings” about a situation, person, whatever that may be are NOT crazy. I tell my clients that all the time. Reading this book will allow you to give yourself permission to believe in your gut/messages/downloads so you don’t get into a situation you may regret. Unfortunately, as primal creatures we have to become really good at violence prevention and this book helps become a resource for that.

The Shadow King:  The Invisible Force that Holds Women Back by Sidra Stone, Ph. D.

  • This book was recommended to me by a coach I used to work with, and this might have been the best piece of coaching/advice he ever gave me!
  • This is about the Inner Patriarchy that lives inside of you (we all have one), how to identify it, bring it into the light, then make changes, and heal this part or parts of ourselves.
  • Putting the Inner Patriarchy aside – which is so important to identity. What I love about this book and the overarching concept I hope everyone will get out of it is this – when something is in the shadow of our lives it has more power over us then we can know. I talk about this concept a lot with my clients. The Shadow is functioning within us whether we are conscious of it or not. When we bring the shadow into the light or shine a light on the shadow it no longer has so much control over us, and we can really start the healing process. We all have shadows in our lives, and we all have the ability to heal them, one step at a time. Have courage!

The Magic (The Secret Library) by Rhonda Byrne

  • So, I’ve read The Secret, The Power, and a bunch of other books by Rhonda Byrnes and for me this was the most impactful. I loved the guidance and application for working with the Law of Attraction. If you want to bring a little bit of whimsy and magic into your life, then this is a great place to start. Open yourself to believe, receive, and see what magic comes your way.

The Book of Stones: Who they are & What they Teach by Robert Simmons, Naisha Ahsian, with contributions by Hazel Raven

  • You want my favorite resource for crystals?! This would be my go to. This is the book for the advanced, novice, or person who fits in between those categories and is either very into or just becoming curious about crystals. I can’t tell you the number of people I have gifted this book to or sent a screenshot with juicy info from this book. I obviously don’t expect you to read this one cover to cover – but you totally could!
  • As a crystal healer, even I do not know as much as these individuals do about crystals and every time I open up this book I learn more about my friends – you know crystals.
