I recently had the opportunity and good fortune to go on a Transatlantic cruise – yes, the same one that became so infamous by the movie Titanic. Luckily ship navigation, technology, and sea travel has come a long way – so it’s all very safe now. While on my travels a few good insights and perspective shifts arose that I felt called to share with you. I should also preface that I knew I would get messages along the way on this voyage, almost a spiritual journey taking the same route many people have and a similar one some of my ancestors took.
It wasn’t only the few days without internet, we also happened to go through a storm on the high seas and the sense of calmness that washed over me. Funny enough – this storm occurred over the first full moon of the year. Not really that surprising as the waves, water energy and moon are connected. In the calmness surrounding me while everything all around me was chaotic, I felt peace and stillness within me, knowing that I was put on the ship to experience this and harness this feeling.
To bring it back to my everyday life. Just allow, breathe…I too am only human and deal with my own trials, tribulations, obstacles, and fears.
Just a few of my Insights from my Transatlantic cruise:
- We are guided and protected!
- I tell my clients all the time that we have a team of spiritual guides, benevolent ancestors, angels, and a whole slew of “people” surrounding us and helping us on our path. Are you listening to them? Are you ready to hear their guidance and wisdom or does the ego/mind get in the way?
I remember being on the treatment room table during an Acupuncture session feeling so calm, knowing that everything was going to be okay as the waves crashed against the ship. Lingering in the stillness that I am guided and protected.
I live by a few phrases that you might have heard during your session.
- “We are all riding the Wave (of Life)”
- That could not have been any clearer than being at the mercy of the ocean and Mother Nature and coming out on the other side. It was so freeing to release the control (we can all thank Pluto for this) and the fear that seesaws through our lives and just surrender. So that’s what I did. I wouldn’t have been able to do anything – we can only really control our thoughts, actions, and at times even that can be trying.
- The other phrase I say quite a bit that another healer said to me – that I can’t take credit for but will nonetheless share the wisdom of is that “the only way through is through.”
- Sometimes we have to go through the storms (of life) to get to the other side, to see the magic, transformations, and beauty all around us. You can always ask, and I do too at those trying times when you may be in the Eye of the Storm (grief, endings, etc.) Do you really want to stop and have to go through this or that again? When you have come so much farther than you thought. I know I don’t. Sometimes, we do have to repeat our mistakes to make sure we have fully learned the lesson. I know I’d rather go through one particular storm one time versus dipping in and out repeatedly only to extend it longer than necessary.
Storm aside, I mentioned that I didn’t have internet and that was a choice. While being on the ship’s Wi-Fi which at times was spotty (we were in the middle of the ocean after all.) A few texts sporadically came in – otherwise I was free from my email, my social media accounts and honestly all my cell phone notifications that can and do bombard us on a daily basis.
In affects, I was on what they call these days as a “digital detox”. (I highly recommend this even if it’s only for 24-48 hours.) Honestly, this came at the perfect time as I’d been wanting to break some bad habits; like waking up and immediately being glued to some device. Having my own business I do keep unusual hours and sometimes you will find me getting a package ready or in the middle of doing some back-end work right out of bed. I had been wanting to change my morning routine and work on finding and creating one that was more in alignment with me and not dictated by some electronic device.
I also wanted to focus on being in the present moment and not so worried about the next notification or interruption. It helped that while on the high seas (once the storm had passed – as they all do – remember our only constant in life is change,) we had the waves rocking us peacefully (sometimes to sleep).
During this digital detox, I was able to really connect with my body and what it needed and listen to the messages – that sometimes a slower pace is just what we need, especially during this time of Winter, the slowest time of year, where we return and reconnect with ourselves and Mother Nature.
In these times that we find ourselves living in – especially as we have welcomed 2025 and shifted past the Lunar New Year, where we entered the Year of the Wood Snake, I feel that my 2025 can truly start. You will find changes coming to my external life like my website as well as the many shifts that occurred already, internally.
If you are looking to find your inner peace and bring more stillness back into your life, maybe you are currently at a crossroads or in the middle of your own storm – I’d love to work with you one-on-one virtually or in person. I also have packages curated just for times like these (stay tuned).
To the next storm and the many lessons and gifts it will bring us!
So, would I do another Transatlantic cruise? Absolutely! I had an absolute blast. Who knows…maybe one of these days you will find me doing a retreat on the high seas.
